Research & Development, Innovate to “Raise life”

On the cutting edge of innovation, Phileo by Lesaffre has a dedicated R&D division present on Europe, America and Asia continents. Our nutritionists and veterinarians work in close collaboration with Lesaffre Corporate Research which focuses mainly on biotechnologies, as well as universities and reference research centers across the globe.

The teams’ expertise includes both upstream and applicative fundamental in vitro research, covering different fields such as nutrition, microbiology, immunology, animal science and formulation processes. This contributes to the development of evidence-based solutions for the current and future needs of ruminants, pigs, poultry, aquaculture, equine and pet industries.

Phileo by Lesaffre’s areas of research

We are leader in several key areas of animal nutrition and health.

Grain detoxification

Due to adverse harvesting and storage conditions, grains become contaminated with fungal organisms that produce toxic substances called mycotoxins. Parietal yeast fractions can help to bind and detoxify mycotoxins that are harmful to animals and cause inevitably poor animal performance and health.

Sustainable nutrition

With the global world increased demand of grains, increase the bioavailability of nutrients in the feed to improve animal performance. Develop more sustainable nutrients such as yeast proteins…

With the ban of antibiotics, improve the health and well-being of animals through modulation of innate or specific immunity is becoming a growing issue for animal production. Phileo has developed a strong expertise in the use of biotech ingredients for immune modulation.

Microbiota improvement

Microbiota stabilization is central to the health of the digestive system. By reinforcing the commensal microflora, probiotics help to combat stress and maintain good overall animal health. This helps to improve overall performance, with better growth and better production (milk, meat, eggs) at lower cost. Aside from the positive effect on productivity, probiotics also help to improve animal welfare.
