Salud del rumen y eficiencia alimenticia<\/span><\/h2>\n

El rumen es un gran fermentador con un volumen cercano a los 180 litros de material que contiene aproximadamente 150,000 millones de microorganismos por cucharadita. Digesti\u00f3n del rumen<\/span><\/h2>\n

Los microorganismos del rumen los fermentan y los convierten principalmente en \u00e1cidos grasos vol\u00e1tiles (AGV), los cuales proporcionan del 70 al 80 % de la energ\u00eda que la vaca requiere. Los AGV se absorben f\u00e1cilmente en el rumen, d\u00e1ndole a la vaca f\u00e1cil acceso para usarlos en la producci\u00f3n de leche. Sin embargo, el desequilibrio entre los carbohidratos estructurales y no estructurales pueden llevar a la sobreproducci\u00f3n de \u00e1cido l\u00e1ctico y a la acidosis ruminal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nUn rumen saludable y en buen funcionamiento, con un buen equilibrio microbiano es capaz de digerir eficazmente los carbohidratos estructurales (fibras). Trastornos del rumen<\/span><\/h2>\n

Valores de pH m\u00e1s bajos, por debajo de 6, se relacionan con la acidosis ruminal y trastornos del equilibrio microbiano y la fermentaci\u00f3n. La acidosis ruminal subaguda (ARSA) surge sin signos cl\u00ednicos claros, lo que la hace muy dif\u00edcil de diagnosticar en vacas lecheras. La ARSA se relaciona con tasas de conversi\u00f3n alimenticia bajas, una digesti\u00f3n deficiente de la fibra y disminuci\u00f3n de la grasa l\u00e1ctea. Com\u00fanmente resulta del desequilibrio en las dietas y de mayores niveles de carbohidratos no estructurales, vistos como almid\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

Para ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del desequilibrio microbiano, usamos otro par\u00e1metro del rumen, el potencial redox (Eh). Mientras que el pH nos da una idea de la acidez del rumen, el Eh muestra la actividad y el crecimiento de los microorganismos ruminales. Cuando el Eh aumenta se observa un trastorno en la comunidad microbiana del rumen y a menudo puede estar relacionado con la acidosis ruminal y un alimento de mala calidad, un cambio r\u00e1pido en la dieta, ensilado mohoso con micotoxinas, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n
