La cetosis es el trastorno metab\u00f3lico m\u00e1s com\u00fan, con el mayor impacto en la productividad durante la transici\u00f3n de las vacas, en especial la subcl\u00ednica, resultado de un balance energ\u00e9tico negativo (BEN). La cetosis subcl\u00ednica es un trastorno costoso, que impacta en el rendimiento de la leche durante toda la lactancia, adem\u00e1s de que afecta el desempe\u00f1o reproductivo y estado inmunitario del ganado lechero. Las vacas reciben menos energ\u00eda que la que necesitan para producir leche y mantenerse, lo cual lleva a un balance energ\u00e9tico negativo (BEN).<\/span><\/p>\n

Para afrontar este desequilibrio energ\u00e9tico, las vacas movilizan reservas de grasa corporal. Los l\u00edpidos de los dep\u00f3sitos de grasa corporales se transportan al h\u00edgado como \u00e1cidos grasos no esterificados (AGNE) para utilizarlos como fuente de energ\u00eda. La ubre usa glucosa para la producci\u00f3n de leche, lo que ocasiona baja glucosa en sangre y niveles bajos de insulina. Los bajos niveles de insulina inician la movilizaci\u00f3n de grasa necesaria para cubrir la demanda inmediata de energ\u00eda. Estos mecanismos se llevan a cabo en todas las vacas despu\u00e9s del parto. . Los niveles bajos de insulina conducen a bajos niveles de otras hormonas importantes, como la IGF1, sumamente importante para el desarrollo folicular y el desempe\u00f1o reproductivo futuro de la vaca.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nSi tarda mucho tiempo en recuperarse del BEN, los niveles AGNE aumentan impactando negativa y directamente la calidad del ovocito. La funci\u00f3n inmunitaria innata y adaptativa de una vaca se altera alrededor del parto, lo que pone al animal en un mayor riesgo de contagio de enfermedades infecciosas, que pueden desencadenar un proceso inflamatorio. Despu\u00e9s del parto, las vacas muestran biomarcadores de inflamaci\u00f3n sist\u00e9mica, a menudo sin claras se\u00f1ales de infecci\u00f3n. La inflamaci\u00f3n es una reacci\u00f3n del sistema inmunitario innato involucrado en el parto que podr\u00eda estar provocada por diferentes cambios metab\u00f3licos y hormonales que se dan durante el mismo.
