So, when he heard about a calf bucket that combines Actisaf<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> with Safmannan<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> premium yeast fraction, he was keen to find out more\u2026<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; thickness=&#8221;0&#8243; up=&#8221;30&#8243; down=&#8221;0&#8243;][vc_column_text]Based in Killylea, County Armagh, Jim farms 80 acres, on which he runs a mixed herd of 40 MRI and Brown Swiss cows. Instead of rearing his own replacement stock, all of his cows are put to an Angus bull, with the resulting calves being reared on and sold as store cattle once they hit a target weight of 450-500kg.<\/p>\n<p>Jim knows that to hit this target weight as quickly as possible it is best to maximise early growth \u2013 ideally aiming for target weaning weights of double birth weight within 8 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of <a href=\"\/?page_id=1117\">Actisaf<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> and Safmannan<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> supports high levels of feed intake and rapid growth rates, as well as supporting the immune system in the young calf.<\/p>\n<p>Jim now feeds Actisaf<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> and <a href=\"\/?page_id=1148\">Safmannan<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> as supplements to calves, which he buys as a pre-mixed calf bucket and he adds into milk as soon as they are taken away from the mother.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cCalves are definitely growing faster and intakes have improved,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Jim explained. <strong><em>\u201cI am finding that a four-month-old calf is typically eating around 4-5kg of meal each day, which is significantly more than before I used Actisaf<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> and Safmannan<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, yet dung remains consistent and we haven\u2019t suffered with scour. Feed conversion efficiency seems to have improved and the calves are contented, with good coats.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cMy calves are doing much better now than they were previously,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> concluded Jim, <em><strong>\u201cand I\u2019m confident that this will mean that they reach target sale weights earlier, so it will really pay off.
